Our Laboratory study on the Artificial Life with a Self-Emergence which is based on understanding about an organism of the natural world. We study on those for application of engineering, those are Self-Organized Neural Network, Adaptation and Learning Algorithms, Implementation of Evolved Artificial Brain, Artificial Immune System by engineering modeling of an Natural Immune System, robust Co-Evolutionary Algorithms by Imitation of a Natural Evolution, Speaker Recognition & Emotion Recognition using Human Voice Information and etc. And for implementing developed Algorithms, we study on Adaptation System and Evolvable Hardware which is production of Autonomous Mobile Robot and Implementing an Artificial Brain hardware(including neural network) using FPGA.

Now, human accomplished that he examines and researches principles of a natural world closely, over the stage of imitating a natural phenomenon. They developed many systems imitating an organism of a natural world. Those are Neural Network(organism of human brain information process), Fuzzy System(Inference organism), Evolutionary Computation, Reinforcement Learning, Artificial Immune System and Distributed Autonomous Robotic System. It doesn’t reflect exactly and examine completely features of a natural organism yet. But passions and efforts on these study are continued.
A science as like the Artificial Life appeared from one of these passions. A Study on the Artificial Life includes creating a new life artificially as well as constructing an artificial system that have natural properties and studying principles of a natural world and features of an organism. Computer virus is a program that enhance and reproduce by itself. This has a best feature of a real organism. It may be that this is called the first artificial organism is created by human. Many researchers expect that the future artificial life exist on based a silicon. It is certain that the developments of semiconductor and computer architecture supply big base of artificial life and be affected with a 21th new paradigm.
The Neural Network is a information process organism that make a model with a human brain nervous system. And its field is expected many development. The Artificial Life Technique is regarded as it plays an important role in design of neural network that can perform more complex and more various tasks. An animal’s nervous system has developed through his evolution. In the same manner, we can design a neural network. We design a neural network with a genetic model that can covert a genotype into a phenotype. If it repeat evoution and be assigned ability of self-reproduction, we can expect a desired emergence of complexity. There is no doubt that a close examination of a brain cell and a behavior mechanism must be complemented from a biological point of view.
Like this, Artificial Life injects vigor to the previous research and affects with a new driving force. Through this, we will get many new results.
